Mofo Recordings
is the label fronted by the award winning breakbeat magazine, Mofo. The label
was launched in 2004 and embraces tech-funk and high octane breakbeat. The
first release was Rockbox by Dirty Habit which immediately caught the attention
of the breaks community with hooks, stuttered vocals; euphoric builds, pounding
beats and way too many hands in the air moments for a debut release!
Mofo’s next
signing, Platinum Mules, was a sure fire winner on every level with their ability
to produce hip-shaking breakbeat cool to tracks that induce pathological,
dancefloor, brain-matter-meltdown on breakbeat floors worldwide. Mofo
Recordings were so impressed with the Mules production that three consecutive
releases were rolled out to critical acclaim. Gammon Steak brought a Midwest tornado
of machine-made acid-funk while Broke dropped slamming techie beats garnished
by a cool pimping rap delivered by UK rapped MC Rino. The Hammer is a
masterpiece with heavyweight bassline riffs supporting an incredible dynamic in tech-funk guitar.
Mofo’s next signing is the Beat Assassins who’s
remix of Platinum Mules The Hammer smashed floors across the land while being
charted No.1 in Jay Cunning’s Kiss FM chart and receiving airplay on Annie
Nightingale’s radio 1 breakbeat show.
Mofo have a roster of releases ready to drop
by B-Phreak, Beat Assassins and Platinum Mules so watch this space.
